Education & Prevention

AIDS Saskatoon does community education for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Getting informed about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C is the best way to prevent the further spread blood-borne pathogens throughout our communities. Information and a variety of resources and pamphlets are available free of charge at AIDS Saskatoon on a regular basis.

Presentations

Our Education & Prevention Coordinator does a variety of presentations for all types of audiences. AIDS Saskatoon does presentations for schools, workplaces, group homes, drop-in centers, reserves, conferences, etc. Topics can include HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, safer sex practices, safer drug use, needle safety, body art, harm reduction, treatment options, etc. Our presentations are flexible to suit any groups’ needs. Booking a presentation needs to be done a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks in advance depending upon location and presentation length. Community Events

AIDS Saskatoon is more than happy to set up a display booth at your community event. Our display booth always includes a plethora of free information pertaining to HIV/AIDS, HCV, sexual health and needle safety. We also include free safer sex supplies. Some examples of events that AIDS Saskatoon has tabled at in the past include: the Anarchist Book Fair, Sextravaganza, Carnival of Sex, CRU Hook Up Day, Our Core Communities Shine, National Aboriginal Day, Pride, FSIN Annual BBQ, and a variety of conferences for students, teachers and health care professionals. Safer Sex Supplies

Did you know that AIDS Saskatoon distributes safer sex supplies for free? Annually we distribute approximately somewhere between 15000 to 20000 male condoms throughout central and northern Saskatchewan. We also distribute thousands of packages of lubricant, and hundreds of female condoms and dental dams.
