1. Beginner Beading Group

Beginning Wednesday, February 10, join folks in the 601 for Beginner Beading lessons with instructor Ruth Cuthand. Everyone is welcome; no experience is necessary, and all supplies will be provided. And, of course, it's free! This drop-in program is aimed toward adults and older youth, and will run throughout the winter. Contact Cheryl (support@aidssaskatoon.ca) for more information.

a. Jean Weiss Memorial and Quilt Unveiling
1-3pm on Friday, February 12 in the 601 Outreach Centre
Join AIDS Saskatoon for the unveiling of our new Memorial Quilt, and a reception in honour of long-time volunteer, supporter and friend of the agency Jean Weiss. Come & go reception; coffee, tea and light snacks will be served.

b. HIV, Disclosure & the Law Workshop
9am-noon on Monday, February 22
AIDS Saskatoon, in conjunction with the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE), invites you to a presentation of "HIV Disclosure and the Law" on Monday, February 22, 9am - noon, at AIDS Saskatoon, 1143 Ave F North. There will be a light breakfast served beginning at 8:30am, and the presentation will be followed by lunch.

Our speaker is Glenn Betteridge, self-employed law and policy researcher, writer, editor and facilitator. Glenn works in the areas of human rights and public health, mostly around issues related to HIV/AIDS. His presentation will focus on the legal implications of HIV non-disclosure.

There is no cost for this event, but registration is required. Please RSVP to Cathy Johnson, AIDS Saskatoon Education & Prevention Coordinator, at 242-5005, or education@aidssaskatoon.ca, by Thursday, February 18. We hope you can attend.

c. Café Scientifique: Walking the Line: Emergent Perspectives on Harm Reduction
7pm on Thursday, March 25 at E.E. Burritos
Issues of drug use, disease, and harm reduction have generated a great deal of misunderstanding. What can we learn from harm reduction? How does harm reduction impact our communities?

Bring your questions and opinions for discussion with some of Western Canada’s leading academics and professionals working in and on issues of harm reduction. Find out what their opinions are, and share your own.
Moderator: Pamela Downe (Professor of Archaeology & Anthropology, University of Saskatchewan)

Speakers: Sherri Doell (Outreach Coordinator, AIDS Saskatoon), Colleen Dell (Associate Professor, Research Chair in Substance Abuse, Dept. of Sociology & School of Public Health, University of Saskatchewan), Gina McKay, (Education Program Coordinator, Nine Circles Community Health Centre, Winnipeg) and Pamela de Bruin (Disease Control Nurse Clinician, Public Health Services, Saskatoon Health Region.
