AIDS Saskatoon is the primary AIDS service organization serving Central and Northern Saskatchewan. We provide outreach, education and support for people living with and affected by HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis C. We have outreach centres in Saskatoon, La Ronge and Yorkton.
HIV and Hepatitis C have reached epidemic status in Saskatchewan with infection rates for HIV over double the national average (12.8 in 100,000 compared to 5.9 in 100,000 for Canada generally). Seven out of ten HIV positive individuals identify as First Nation or Métis, many of whom live in unstable or inadequate housing*. We are facing a health crisis, and the social determinants of the HIV and Hep C epidemic are well-known. With the support of our funders, volunteers and donors we hope to make an impact on the lives of the people behind these statistics and show them that help and support is out there – no one has to deal with this alone.
